Albert was born in Dundalk, Ireland, to Frederick and Alice White on 4 November 1906. He served in the Australian Army, after enlisting in Brisbane. He died in April 1943 in New Guinea, a region subject to years of arduous warfare between the Allies and Japanese, while an acting captain with the New Guinea Force Air Liaison Group. We do not know if he was killed in combat, died in an accident, or succumbed to disease – many soldiers fell ill and died in the jungle. He left a widow, Edith, and is buried in the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery.
